BPM and IoT: Transformation to the physical world
Burden or benefit? Read how all those petabytes of data can become transformational to your enterprise. Business process management (BPM) and IoT combine to connect physical things to digital processes and generate actionable information.

Bridging the IT/OT gap
What does it take to build an effective architecture to connect the diverse worlds of OT (operational technology) and IT (information technology)? In this whitepaper, find out what a little intelligence at the edge can do for converging these two distinct environments.

Real hardware, real software, real-time performance: Real-time Linux
Take a look at the processes and controls—and the underlying platform—needed when the physical world of IoT sensors and actuators meet real-time applications.

Locked Down episode 19
Listen to this podcast where Andrea Ceiner from Eurotech talks about the role of gateways, and why intelligent gateways (and the processing power they bring to the edge) are crucial for IoT implementations.

The Internet of Things – A mobile perspective
It should come as no surprise that IoT and the mobile world are intersecting. Take a look at what IoT can learn from mobile about agility, collaboration and security.

We're all gearing up for Red Hat Summit, June 27-30, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA, and DevNation, June 26-29 at the same location. Don't miss the IoT sessions during the Mobility and IoT track. Make sure you get your geek on with Eurotech during Tuesday night's IoT Hackathon, and visit the IoT insights area in Red Hat's booth on the show floor.

Webinars
Here are two webinars that are worth a listen. These are replays of events that happened in the past few months and tell you more about how to make your IoT project a success.

Simplifying Internet of Things integration: Bridging the gap between IT and OT
James Kirkland from Red Hat and Jon Woodland from Eurotech discuss their recommendations for implementing converged IT/OT infrastructure including:

  • Technology considerations
  • Addressing scalability, availability, and security challenges
  • Architecting to provide dynamic intelligence at the edge
  • Streamlining data formats and simplifying integration
  • Acquisition, aggregation, and processing OT device data

From device to datacenter: Easing the Internet of Things data journey
Learn how FreeWire Technologies is transforming the electric vehicle market with their mobile charging service, using technology from Eurotech and Red Hat to:

  • Create distributed, intelligent systems of devices and sensors
  • Connect those distributed systems to the IT infrastructure
  • Ensure that data is safely managed, stored, and processed to provide the greatest business value

It's no surprise that IoT has taken off in the transportation industry. Everything from asset tracking and logistics to fleet telematics management solutions; from guidance and control systems to smart vehicle applications; from reservation, toll, and ticketing systems to car sharing can benefit from IoT. There are endless ways to enhance businesses and bring more value to customers with IoT applications. Learn how Red Hat can help in this technology brief.

The IoT eliminates routine, menial tasks from the plates of skilled workers...

A recent Gartner survey revealed that, while IoT adoption is more prevalent in some industries than others, 2016 will be a big year for IoT. The same survey showed that there's an increased emphasis on enhancing the customer experience through IoT projects. Take a look at a summary of the survey results.

Henryk Konsek, senior software engineer, Red Hat

You may have heard the news recently about Red Hat and Eurotech and our joint collaboration on an architecture for the Internet of Things. I'd also like to tell you about what we have going on together in the upstream open source communities to simplify your IoT implementations.

Eclipse Kura is the community version of Eurotech's Everyware Software Framework, an OSGI-based IoT gateway for field devices. It collects and manages messages from sensors and other edge devices and provides a wide range of APIs to make development of IoT applications faster and more efficient.

Apache Camel, included in the upstream of Red Hat® JBoss® Fuse, is the message routing framework that lets you orchestrate the flow of messages between operational systems and enterprise systems.

So, why are Kura and Camel a good match? It's pretty simple. When used together, it's easier to develop IoT applications and connect the world of operational technology with information technology. Kura lets you quickly start your application development on a proven framework (OSGi) with standard software technologies (Java™) and development tools (Eclipse). Camel takes care of all the complicated details behind integration, saving lots of coding time and smoothing your path to IoT success.

I'm looking forward to telling you more about this collaboration at DevNation in June during my presentation, “Open source IoT gateway: A tale of Eclipse Kura, Apache Camel, and Rhiot.” You'll learn more about our collaboration with Eurotech, and find out what Rhiot is all about.

Join us at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, for DevNation, June 26-29 and at Red Hat Summit, June 27-30. I hope to see you there!

Henryk

P.S. Don't miss the Hackathon on Tuesday night at DevNation. You'll see how Eurotech's gateways can help make your IoT dreams come true.

There are countless opportunities for companies to use IoT to innovate their products and business model.

Our announcement with Eurotech caused quite a stir. Here are just a couple of the articles promoting our joint partnership to develop an end-to-end architecture to the Internet of Things.
